Science Policy & Advocacy

Dr. Blackburn has always been an advocate for improving the community and process of science.

The Lindau Guidelines 2020 are based on an initiative first introduced by Dr. Blackburn during the 68th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting held in Lindau, Germany, in June 2018. The guidelines aim to inspire and foster the exchange of scientific information, raise awareness about the impact of scientific research and highlight the need for collaborative efforts to sustain public support for science.

Updated information about telomeres and health in people, in response to recent story in New York Times.

Dr. Blackburn co-authored, with Dr. Elissa Epel, the best-selling book, The Telomere Effect, a Revolutionary Approach to Living Younger, Healthier, Longer. This book explains how telomeres influence the way cells age, and describes steps we can take to enhance telomere health.
